I got the same deal, just added Cyberverse Deluxe Starscream to the order. It came from one of Target's "spend $100 and get $25 off" deals that just happened to come up when Motormaster first became available for pre-order. Actually come to think of it, thats how i found and paid for Commander class Rodimus this spring Now will have to keep eyes peeled out in the wild. $60 bucks for Motormaster? Im shitting myself, thats a steal of a deal. The only complaint I have is the Menasor thighs are a bit too short, but otherwise, I like it a lot I also appreciate the work that went into Menasor much more now, it's a very solid mode. The battle station trailer is pretty neat, and the robot mode is pretty solid. I have to say, I am enjoying him more than I though I would. You could not just go to a Walmart or target and pick them up next to the combiner wars figures. They were takara only release of their teams and again, you had to import them. you could import them sure but nobody outside japan was their target audience. takaras market back then was and technically still is only in japan. also yes takara announced unite warriors set but not before hasbro's teams were revealed AND thats not worth a comparing those box sets because they all were takara mall exclusives. While I am in that "Animation Accurate" niche, it is just that, and not enough to warrant a whole reissue I would think, unless they thought they could sucker enough people who bought the first one to purchase it again.Īre you seriously gonna use box sets released 32-37 years ago as an example? thats ridiculous. I dont think from 2018 to 3 years later in 2021, there was a large sum of people that were thinking "darn I missed out on Volcanicus", so much that TT did a slightly upgraded reissue. I mean Volcanicus is objectively not a great toy, it was highly criticized, and most who wanted Dinobots wanted big beefy leaders like what SS86 is doing now. They were either begrudgingly upgrading, or selling off their PotP versions to try to recoup some of the loss of purchasing the same toy again. I'm pretty sure most people who got Selects Volcanicus & Abominus were not first time owners. And if people happen to double dip, then even better, though that isn't the primary purpose of a boxset. So if people can get the toys, then there is no reason for a boxset.
Plus boxsets in general are essentially the same as any other rerelease or repacks, they are a way for people who don't have the toys to get them.
